Imagine a myriad of horses that can be ridden across an otherwise empty beach, a group of riders cantering alongside the flowing and ebbing waves.

This is the horse and beach holiday to enjoy! Welcome to South Africa's Wild Coast Horse Trails. Equine experience can be acquired in a myriad of places around the world today. This can be in the form of equine courses, working/riding holidays, traineeships and of course employment. For the horse enthusiast who can’t get enough consider the working/riding holiday.

Wild Coast Horse Trails

Located in the small town of Kei Mouth is a property that lives, breathes and breeds horses. Wild Coast Horse Trails offer working/riding holidays for the equine lover eager to experience South African culture a little differently.

On a skills level, this horsey holiday provides opportunities to work with young horses and improve the horse lover’s riding capabilities by having access to many different, well disciplined horses to ride. In fact, doing so is greatly encouraged!

Throw in some beautiful views and animals unique to South Africa and the traveller has a great holiday destination. Kei Mouth is possibly best accessed by the traveller flying into Johannesburg or Capetown and then out to East London. From here travelling arrangements can be made to reach the small town of Kei Mouth which is under two hours drive away.

The traveller will then find their self staying on a large acreage in which they can find riding horses, young horses being brought on, broodmares and perhaps a stallion or two. Although set up for the horse enthusiast, there are opportunities for hunting and fishing – if for some reason a break from horses is required!

Staying at least 30 days helps to ensure that the rider partakes of a 5 day trail along South Africa’s Wild Coast. The views are gorgeous, accommodation is wonderful and horses are a delight. Costs of the trail, including accommodation and meals are factored into the working/riding holiday expenses paid up front by the traveller.

Once in South Africa it’s up to the traveller to ride, relax and breathe horses! With a milder winter than Australia, perhaps ducking away over the month of June is appealing for some. Rather than harsh rain, wind and cold weather, mild days in the range of 25 degrees Celsius is a great escape. The Wild Coast really is a gorgeous place for the equine enthusiast to do just that – enjoy the gorgeous animal that is the horse while experiencing another culture.
